Former First Deputy Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Artan Grubi, was arrested early this morning at the Blace border crossing, after an active “Arrest” measure had been issued against him, the Ministry of Interior announced.
According to police authorities, Grubi voluntarily presented himself at the country’s entry point at around 06:10 AM and was immediately detained for further legal procedures. He had previously been declared wanted due to failure to appear before judicial authorities.
Grubi is under investigation on suspicion of abuse of official position, corruption, and violations of public procurement procedures, in connection with contracts involving the State Lottery of North Macedonia.
According to the prosecution, the alleged financial damage amounts to approximately 500 million denars (over €8 million).
Authorities have stated that further details will be provided as the investigation proceeds.
