The faithful of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania have begun the Great Lent, a 40-day period of spiritual preparation for Orthodox Easter, which this year concludes on April 12.

This period is dedicated to repentance, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal, with an emphasis on drawing closer to God through fasting and prayer.

During Lent, the consumption of animal-based foods is prohibited, while fish is allowed only on designated days.
