A Croatian diplomat was physically attacked last night in the center of Banja Luka, with assailants directing ethnic insults at him, the Croatian Embassy in Sarajevo confirmed. The embassy sent a formal protest to Bosnia and Herzegovina authorities, demanding a thorough investigation and proper punishment for those responsible.

The first-class consul at the Croatian Consulate General was reportedly attacked by a large group of unknown individuals who verbally abused him on ethnic grounds. The embassy stressed the importance of condemning this hate crime and ensuring the safety of diplomatic staff.

The Vice President of Republika Srpska, Davor Pranjić, also condemned the attack, highlighting that such violence undermines security and creates a sense of insecurity among citizens, particularly among members of the Croat community. Pranjić confirmed that the Republika Srpska police had been informed and called on competent institutions to quickly identify the perpetrators and make it clear that such acts will not be tolerated.
