Senior European Union diplomat Kaja Kallas, along with several EU foreign ministers, arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday to mark the fourth anniversary of the Bucha Massacre and to express their support for Ukraine amid ongoing tensions within the bloc over aid to the country.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, welcomed Kallas and around a dozen foreign ministers and senior officials at Kyiv’s central railway station early Tuesday morning. He emphasized that the European presence demonstrates that accountability for Russian crimes is unavoidable, Reuters reports.

“Today we commemorate the painful anniversary of the Bucha Massacre,” Sybiha stated on Telegram. “Full accountability for Russian crimes is essential to restore justice in Europe. Today, we will advance efforts toward this accountability.”

This week, Ukraine marks the fourth anniversary of the liberation of Bucha, approximately 25 kilometers from the capital, a revelation that exposed the atrocities committed in the town, where Russian troops killed more than 400 people. Russia has denied these accusations, claiming that the event was staged by Ukraine.
