The White House has rejected reports suggesting that the United States requested an extension of the current ceasefire in its conflict with Iran.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt described the claims as “inaccurate,” emphasizing that no such request had been made by Washington.
Leavitt confirmed that discussions regarding a potential second round of negotiations with Tehran have been “productive,” adding that talks could take place again in Pakistan, which is currently acting as the sole mediator between the two sides.
She also reiterated that the United States will not renew licenses that previously allowed the purchase of Russian and Iranian oil, signaling a continued tightening of economic measures amid ongoing tensions.
The developments come as diplomatic efforts continue to stabilize the situation, even as uncertainty remains over the future of the ceasefire and broader negotiations.
