The Prosecution Office in Gjakovë said that a state prosecutor and a duty prosecutor have been deployed to the scene, and that the case has been officially opened as a “death investigation.”

In a statement, prosecutors confirmed that the case is still in its initial phase and that all necessary investigative actions are being taken in coordination with police authorities. The bodies of the victims will be sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy following a decision by the state prosecutor.

“The case is at an early stage. The state prosecutor and duty prosecutor are on site. A death investigation has been initiated. All necessary actions are being undertaken together with the police,” the prosecution said.

Director of the Kosovo Police for the Gjakovë region, Lumni Graishta, confirmed the identities and ages of the victims, stating that emergency teams responded immediately after the explosion but were unable to save them.
