Israel and Lebanon are set to hold a second round of talks in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, as efforts continue to extend the current 10-day ceasefire.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said the ambassador-level discussions are based on key conditions, including a complete halt to Israeli military actions, withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, the return of detainees, deployment of the Lebanese army along international borders, and the start of post-conflict reconstruction.

The first round of negotiations resulted in a temporary 10-day ceasefire that began on April 16, providing a window for diplomatic engagement amid ongoing tensions.

The upcoming talks are seen as a critical step in determining whether the truce can be extended and potentially transformed into a more lasting arrangement.
