The family of renowned academic Rexhep Qosja has announced that he passed away on April 23, 2026.
In a public statement, the family confirmed that the funeral took place the same day, attended only by close relatives.
Respecting his personal wishes, the family emphasized that no condolence reception will be organized. They also stated that they will not participate in any institutional commemorations or official ceremonies held in his honor.
“We kindly ask that our privacy be respected and that we are allowed to mourn in peace,” the family said in their announcement.
Rexhep Qosja was widely regarded as one of the most influential intellectuals in Albanian literature and academic life, leaving behind a profound legacy in literary criticism, history, and public thought.
