The Basic Prosecution Office in Prishtina has authorized an investigation into suspected air pollution linked to the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), following reports and video evidence indicating harmful emissions.

According to the prosecution, initial information suggests that smoke released from a chimney at KEK facilities in Obiliq may be contributing to environmental pollution. Based on these findings, the State Prosecutor has instructed the Kosovo Police to carry out all necessary investigative actions to verify the claims and secure relevant evidence.

The case is being examined under the criminal offense of “Pollution, degradation or destruction of the environment,” as defined by Article 338 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo.

Authorities emphasized their commitment to environmental protection and stated that all legal measures will be taken to fully clarify the situation.
