Israeli airstrikes killed 14 people, including two children, in southern Lebanon on Sunday, according to Lebanese health officials, marking the deadliest day since a recently announced ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

The ceasefire, brokered by Washington on April 16 and initially set for ten days before being extended by three weeks, has faced continued violations and rising tensions along the border.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that seven additional people were killed on Saturday, bringing the total death toll to 47 since the truce took effect on April 17.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching five attacks against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon on Sunday, including one that reportedly killed an Israeli soldier in the town of Taybeh. The Israeli military said earlier it intercepted three drones before they crossed into Israeli airspace.

The renewed violence has raised concerns among human rights organizations, which warn that Israel’s military operations in Lebanon are increasingly resembling tactics used in Gaza, including strikes on critical infrastructure, health facilities, and journalists, as well as psychological warfare.
