US President Donald Trump has threatened to reduce the number of American troops stationed in Germany.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, in a brief statement to the media, emphasized the importance of “reliable transatlantic cooperation.” His remarks come amid ongoing tensions with US President Donald Trump following the strained situation in Iran.
During a visit to a military training center in northern Germany, Merz stated that in “particularly turbulent times,” Germany is guided by a “clear strategic compass.”
“That compass remains oriented toward a united NATO and a reliable transatlantic partnership,” the German Chancellor said.
