The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has announced that he held a meeting with Russia’s ambassador in Belgrade, Aleksandar Bocan-Harčenko.
Vučić said the talks focused on “bilateral relations, with special emphasis on cooperation in the energy sector,” as well as exchanges of views on current regional and international developments.
“In the context of complex geopolitical circumstances and challenges in the European and global market, secure and stable energy supply, primarily gas, is of key importance for Serbia. I stressed that we will continue to pursue a responsible energy policy in the interest of citizens and the economy,” Vučić wrote in a Facebook post.
He also stated that he handed the Russian ambassador a letter addressed to President Vladimir Putin, in which he congratulated him on “Victory Day,” describing it as “one of the brightest dates in human history.”
“In the letter, I wrote that May 9 remains an eternal symbol of the defiance and heroism of our peoples,” Vučić said, adding that Serbia would continue to remember those who “fell on the side of justice and freedom” and would not allow “attempts to revise history.”
He further emphasized Serbia’s commitment to remembering the role of the Red Army in the liberation of Serbia and Europe.
