The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Glauk Konjufca, has carried out an official visit to Ireland, where he met high-ranking state and parliamentary representatives, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and Kosovo’s European integration.

During the visit, he met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Helen McEntee, with whom he discussed expanding cooperation between the two countries.

“On my first bilateral visit to Ireland, I had the pleasure of meeting the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ms. Helen McEntee, with whom we discussed the relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Ireland, the friendship between our peoples, and many shared values we have,” Konjufca stated.

He stressed that there is a shared willingness to deepen relations between the two states.

“It was a mutual assessment that our relations should be expanded and intensified in many directions and fields,” he said.

One of the main topics of the meeting was Kosovo’s European integration, where Konjufca said he requested Ireland’s support for Kosovo’s application for membership in the European Union.

“Since Ireland will assume the presidency of the European Union, we requested their support in accepting Kosovo’s application for EU membership,” he said.

According to him, both sides agreed that Kosovo should not be separated from regional integration processes.

“We agreed that Kosovo cannot be separated from the process and determination of the integration of Western Balkan countries into the European Union,” Konjufca added.

During his stay in Ireland, he also held meetings with members of the Joint Committee on EU Affairs of the Irish Parliament, as well as Senator Pat Casey.

“These meetings reaffirmed Ireland’s parliamentary support for Kosovo’s European path,” Konjufca concluded.
