During a press conference, Albania’s Defense Minister Ermal Nufi spoke about trilateral military cooperation between Kosovo, Albania, and Croatia, including upcoming joint military exercises.
Nufi also commented on the ongoing joint exercise between NATO and the Serbian army, saying it does not concern him and describing the reactions surrounding it as exaggerated media hype.
“We have cooperation with Croatia and Kosovo. States cooperate in the defense industry. Within the framework of this agreement, the goal is to encourage cooperation, especially since Croatia and Albania are both NATO members. We are both part of the Alliance’s defense strategy. As for cooperation with Kosovo, it focuses on the production of military equipment,” Nufi said.
“Even as we speak today, there is an exercise taking place between NATO and the Serbian army. The fact that this exercise is happening, while Albania and Croatia are NATO members and Kosovo hosts KFOR, which is a NATO mission, shows that the NATO exercise there is more of a media-provoked issue,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Chief of the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces, Arben Kingji, provided additional details regarding the planned exercises.
“Regarding the exercises, they will take place in Croatia, where we are currently in the planning phase. Another exercise will also be held in Albania. It will not involve only these three countries, but also other NATO members and partner states with whom we cooperate,” Kingji stated.
