A long-time employee of the Health Center in Gračanica says she was dismissed from her job without explanation after 35 years of service, raising further concerns over political pressure and intimidation against Kosovo Serbs who do not support the Serb List.
Gordana Nedeljković, a Kosovo Serb employee at the Gračanica Health Center, stated that she was unexpectedly called in at the end of her shift and handed a dismissal notice without receiving a clear explanation for her termination.
According to her, the document cited “political engagement” as the reason for her dismissal — an accusation she firmly denies.
Nedeljković said she has never been a member of any political party and has never been involved in political activities.
She believes the decision may be connected to her husband’s employment at Kosovo’s Ministry for Communities and Returns, led by Kosovo Serb politician Nenad Rašić.
“When I asked for the reasons, I received no clarification. Nobody gave me a clear answer,” she said, adding that the decision was delivered in the presence of an administrative employee, Stojan Perić, who, according to her, also had no information about the case.
The case comes amid growing allegations that Kosovo Serbs are being pressured or removed from their jobs for refusing to support the Serb List, the dominant Kosovo Serb political party backed by Serbia.
Several recent cases have fueled accusations of intimidation, blackmail and political coercion targeting Serb voters in Kosovo ahead of the elections. Among those recently detained by Kosovo Police over alleged voter intimidation were directors of parallel Serbian-run educational and healthcare institutions, as well as a member of the Gračanica municipal assembly.
