A third consecutive protest is expected to take place this evening in Tirana against the construction project in the protected area of Zvërnec. The rally has been called for 18:00 in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, following a series of demonstrations held in recent days in the capital.
The day before, thousands of citizens first gathered near the Ministry of Interior and then marched toward the government building in a protest that unfolded along the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard. Participants sent the message “More tomorrow,” signaling further mobilisation.
Protesters are demanding the cancellation of the construction project in the Zvërnec area, describing it as an intrusion into a protected zone and accusing the government of favouring private interests at the expense of public property. They also claim that various investors are benefiting unfairly from state-owned land.
During Saturday’s protest in Zvërnec, tensions were reported, with private security guards allegedly using force against protesters and one citizen being dragged, which further escalated public anger and mobilisation.
In the demonstration held in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, protesters chanted slogans such as “Rama to jail, Berisha to jail,” “Albania for Albanians, death to traitors,” and “Albania is not for sale.” Protesters not only demanded the cancellation of the Zvërnec project but also called for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
