National Election Coordinator, Prosecutor Laura Pula, accompanied by Strategic Project Manager “Vote Protection” Besim Kusari, held a working meeting with Kosovo Police Deputy General Director Colonel Fehmi Hoti, along with Colonel Florie Hajra from the Investigation Department and Lieutenant Colonel Arbnesh Ajvazi, Director of the Public Order Department.
During the meeting, officials discussed planning, assessment, and the engagement of the State Prosecutor and the Kosovo Police in ensuring the smooth conduct of the electoral process, as well as coordination of joint activities.
Prosecutor Laura Pula informed participants that on-duty teams composed of state prosecutors and prosecutorial system officials have already been assigned to address any irregularities that may occur during the elections.
Deputy General Director Colonel Fehmi Hoti emphasized that the Kosovo Police has also designated on-duty police teams that will be responsible for maintaining security and ensuring the proper conduct of the electoral process.
The meeting highlighted that the State Prosecutor and Kosovo Police have received information indicating that some citizens, mainly from the diaspora, photographed or recorded their ballots during the postal voting process and later shared the images or videos on social media platforms.
Following these reports, the State Prosecutor and Kosovo Police have identified several individuals involved in such actions and are currently verifying and reviewing all related cases and online posts.
The State Prosecutor and Kosovo Police announced that such actions will be investigated and that individuals responsible will be held accountable in accordance with the law.
They also called on all citizens exercising their right to vote to ensure that their ballots are not made public in any form.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to acting promptly throughout all stages of the electoral process in order to prevent and address any potential misuse or violation related to voting.
