The Serbian Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces have announced a major joint military exhibition and live-fire tactical exercise scheduled for Sunday, June 28. The event intentionally coincides with Vidovdan (St. Vitus Day)—a highly symbolic Serbian national and religious holiday frequently leveraged by Belgrade to project nationalist sentiment and geopolitical defiance.
According to an official statement carried by Blic, the exhibition will feature a massive showcase of newly acquired and modernized combat systems. The dual-phase operation is designed to signal Serbia’s growing military dominance and rapid rearmament program within the volatile Western Balkans.
Dual-Location Operational Schedule
The Ministry of Defense has structured the military demonstration into two highly visible operational phases:
- Phase 1: The Static & Dynamic Display (10:00 AM): The event kicks off at the “Colonel-Pilot Milenko Pavlović” Military Airfield in Batajnica, located just outside Belgrade. This phase will showcase newly integrated state rateting technology, advanced drone fleets, and recently delivered anti-aircraft systems.
- Phase 2: Live-Fire Exercise (12:00 PM): Immediately following the static display, the units will transition to the “Pasuljanske Livade” military training grounds in central Serbia. Air and ground combat crews will execute synchronized live-fire drills utilizing the newly unveiled weapons systems.

The upcoming exhibition is part of an aggressive, multi-billion-dollar military modernization campaign spearheaded by President Aleksandar Vučić. A History of Signal Sending: Staging a major weapons display on Vidovdan is a calculated geopolitical move. Historically, this date carries immense emotional weight in the Balkans, marking the 1389 Battle of Kosovo. By parading advanced weaponry—including Chinese-made HQ-17A short-range air defense systems and advanced electronic warfare tools—the Vučić regime is sending an unambiguous warning to Pristina and NATO forces stationed in the region.
While Serbia maintains formal military neutrality, its rapid accumulation of advanced offensive and defensive systems has raised serious alarms in neighboring Croatia, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
