The Kosovo Security Force (KSF) has successfully concluded its participation in the major international military exercise “Combat Power 26” held in Slunj, Croatia. Acting Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci attended the Distinguished Visitors Day (DV Day) following an official invitation from Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Ivan Anušić.

The 11-day multinational exercise brought together over 3,000 Croatian troops alongside hundreds of personnel from allied and partner nations, including the United States, Italy, Slovenia, Albania, Portugal, Montenegro, Romania, and Georgia, focusing on enhancing combat interoperability.

Kosovo’s Contingent and Operational Prowess

Kosovo was represented by a 45-member KSF contingent operating under challenging terrain and high-temperature conditions.

  • Combat Elements: The team was organized as an infantry combat platoon participating directly in integrated air and ground combat simulations.
  • Logistical Independence: The deployment showcased elements of tactical logistical support, including specialized drivers and culinary staff.

A Milestone in Logistical Self-Sustainability

Minister Maqedonci highlighted a significant institutional milestone regarding the KSF’s logistical maturity, pointing to the force’s transition away from private catering contractors.

“Until just over a year ago, food services within the KSF were managed by private operators. Today, we have built full organic capabilities,” Maqedonci stated. “Our military chefs now not only sustain our own troops but also provide logistical food support to partner forces during joint international operations.”

Strengthening the Croatia-Kosovo Alliance

The high-intensity drills simulated complex combat scenarios aimed at neutralizing conventional adversary forces while testing joint command-and-control structures. Maqedonci emphasized that the successful deployment solidifies the strategic defense partnership between Prishtina and Zagreb, reaffirming Kosovo’s readiness to actively contribute to regional stability and transition toward full NATO integration.
