Russia has strongly reacted to the decisions adopted at the latest NATO summit, describing them as steps that, according to Moscow, increase tensions and could have serious consequences for international security.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the Alliance is intensifying the militarization of Europe, while accusing NATO of expanding military support for Ukraine and preparing for a confrontation with Russia.
At the summit, NATO member states pledged to provide €70 billion in military assistance to Ukraine during 2026, reaffirmed their commitment to collective defense under Article 5, and announced new arms supply agreements worth more than $50 billion.
Zakharova also claimed that disagreements continue to exist within the Alliance, particularly between the United States and some of its allies regarding security issues.
Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte rejected these claims, saying that debates among member states are part of the democratic decision-making process and demonstrate the functioning of the Alliance rather than division.
