The U.S. Department of State has announced that Serbia has joined the Artemis Accords, an international initiative that establishes principles for the exploration and peaceful use of outer space. With this move, Serbia becomes the 69th signatory of the agreement.

The agreement was signed on July 16, 2026, by Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Đurić, during a ceremony held at NASA’s Mary W. Jackson Headquarters in Washington, D.C., attended by representatives of NASA and the U.S. Department of State.

In its statement, the U.S. Department of State welcomed Serbia’s membership, saying that the step confirms Serbia’s commitment to the principles of peaceful space exploration and international cooperation.

The Artemis Accords were launched by the United States in 2020, together with seven partner countries, as a framework for cooperation on civilian space activities. The agreement has now expanded to include 69 countries worldwide.

The U.S. Department of State and NASA coordinate the promotion and implementation of the accords in cooperation with the participating nations.
