Serbian Member of Parliament Pavle Grbović has reacted to the repeated statements made by Serbian Minister Snežana Paunović regarding the “ethnic cleansing” of Kosovo and the forced expulsion of Kosovo Albanians beginning in 1998.

Grbović stated that the forcible displacement or transfer of civilians constitutes both a war crime and a crime against the civilian population. He argued that Paunović’s attempt to clarify her remarks only further exposed the criminal nature of the policy she supports, particularly after President Aleksandar Vučić and Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić distanced themselves from her initial statement.

“With this explanation, the minister has confirmed the criminal nature of the policy she supports, even after President Vučić and National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabić distanced themselves from her original statement.

The minister should be dismissed tomorrow. If the prime minister does not have the political strength to do so, then he himself should resign.

If neither of these things happens, it will be clear that the entire executive branch shares the same criminal views as Minister Paunović,” Grbović wrote.

Paunović’s comments have sparked widespread criticism and renewed debate over inflammatory rhetoric by senior Serbian officials.
