Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Glauk Konjufca, has condemned what he described as Serbia’s continued attempts to justify and relativize war crimes, warning that such rhetoric is incompatible with European values and poses a serious obstacle to lasting peace in the Western Balkans.
Speaking at a joint press conference with France’s Minister Delegate for Europe, Benjamin Haddad, Konjufca stressed that reconciliation cannot be built on the denial or distortion of the past.
“Rhetoric that justifies or relativizes the crimes committed during the wars of the 1990s, as we are seeing from Serbia, is not only provocative but also unacceptable and incompatible with the values of civilization, peace, and democracy,” Konjufca said.
He argued that such narratives have no place in a democratic Europe and undermine efforts to promote regional stability and mutual trust.
“These positions cannot have a place in democratic Europe,” he added.
Konjufca reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to peace, regional cooperation, and democratic values, emphasizing that genuine normalization of relations in the Western Balkans must be based on truth, accountability, and respect for the legacy of the conflicts of the 1990s.
