Caretaker Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti met with Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay and his delegation to discuss opportunities for strengthening cooperation between Kosovo and the Turkish city.

Welcoming Tugay, Kurti highlighted the longstanding connection between Albanians and Izmir, as well as what he described as the excellent relations and Turkey’s continued support for Kosovo.

The meeting focused on concrete opportunities to expand cooperation in a range of sectors, including the economy, industry and entrepreneurship, education and culture, technology and innovation, agriculture, environmental protection and energy.

Kurti and Tugay also discussed the role of the Albanian community in Turkey and the Turkish community in Kosovo as an important bridge connecting the two countries.

Beyond investment and trade opportunities, the officials emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and experience, particularly in areas such as environmental protection and waste management.

The meeting comes as Kosovo and Turkey seek to deepen economic and institutional ties and expand cooperation beyond traditional political and cultural relations.
