The Kosovo Police has seized a substantial quantity of weapons, explosives and military equipment during a series of operations carried out at 48 locations in Zubin Potok between 6 and 17 August.

According to Kosovo Police Director General Gazmend Hoxha, the operation resulted in the seizure of 72 firearms, including two machine guns, 11 AK-47 rifles, 22 other long guns, 27 hunting rifles, nine pistols and one air rifle.

Police also seized seven explosive devices and seven hand grenades, along with pyrotechnic materials and other military equipment.

Of particular concern is the discovery of a significant quantity of uniforms, bags and military clothing bearing the insignia or associated with the Serbian Army and Serbian Police, according to Hoxha. Authorities also found weapons documentation, former Yugoslav military records, veterans’ cards, weapons serial-number documents and other records.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of €96,100 and 5,000 Swiss francs.

Hoxha said the police operations were conducted following the receipt and verification of information and stressed that maintaining constitutional order and public security remains among the institution’s main priorities.

The scale and nature of the material seized raise serious questions about the presence and purpose of weapons and military equipment in the area. The discovery of Serbian military and police uniforms and related documentation is particularly significant given the sensitive security situation in northern Kosovo.

The findings also underline the importance of allowing Kosovo’s security institutions to investigate potential illegal weapons networks and activities threatening public safety without political interference.

The investigation is expected to establish who possessed the weapons, how they were obtained and whether they were intended for any organized or unlawful activity. Until those investigations are completed, the presence of the seized equipment alone does not establish criminal responsibility for any particular individual.
