Former Kosovo Liberation Army commander Nasim Haradinaj has called on citizens across Kosovo to mobilize on September 16, when the final verdict is expected in the Hague trial of former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.

Speaking on Klan Kosova, Haradinaj urged citizens not to remain passive as they await the court’s decision. He called for large gatherings across Kosovo, saying people should prepare to welcome the four former KLA leaders if they are released.

“People should set off on foot, come out in large numbers and fill all the roads of Kosovo with people waiting for them,” Haradinaj said.

Haradinaj said he remains hopeful that the verdict will be favorable to the defendants. He also expressed his expectation that Hashim Thaçi could return to Kosovo.

“I am waiting in Kosovo to shake Hashim Thaçi’s hand upon his release,” he said.

The former KLA commander also criticized those who, according to him, have already made plans to celebrate a possible conviction.

The proceedings against Thaçi, Veseli, Selimi and Krasniqi have been closely followed in Kosovo, where the four men remain significant figures in the country’s wartime and political history.

With the final verdict approaching, Haradinaj’s appeal could turn September 16 into a major public moment in Kosovo, particularly if the court’s decision leads to the release of the former KLA leaders.
