As the trial of Kosovo’s former KLA leaders at The Hague approaches its closing stage, public calls in support of them are gaining visibility beyond Kosovo.
A “March for Freedom”, under the slogan “Kosovo Is Waiting,” is scheduled to take place in Pristina on September 12, just days before the expected closing hearing on September 16.
The campaign has also reached Tirana, where announcements promoting the march have appeared on large public screens at several major intersections across the Albanian capital.
Organizers are calling on citizens, as well as political representatives, to join the demonstration in Pristina.
Meanwhile, a public countdown to September 16 has been installed on Mother Teresa Boulevard in central Pristina. The “Hour of Waiting” display counts down the remaining days, hours, minutes and seconds until the scheduled hearing.
Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are standing trial in The Hague, with September 16 expected to mark the closing stage of the proceedings.
