Kosovo’s Minister of Sport and Youth, Blerim Gashani, has approved €70,500 in one-time financial support for Kosovo athletes and coaches who won medals at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto.
Gashani announced the funding in a Facebook post, saying the financial support was awarded in recognition of the athletes’ and coaches’ results, with the amount determined by the color of the medal.
Under the approved scheme, a gold medal brings €10,000 for the athlete and €5,000 for the coach. A silver medal is rewarded with €5,000 for the athlete and €2,500 for the coach, while a bronze medal brings €3,000 for the athlete and €1,500 for the coach.
Gashani praised the dedication and achievements of Kosovo’s athletes, saying their medals reflect their hard work and discipline while also representing a source of pride for Kosovo.
“As Minister of Sport and Youth, I remain committed to ensuring that outstanding sporting achievements are recognized and supported institutionally, while creating motivation, better conditions and opportunities for our athletes and coaches on the road to new successes,” Gashani said.
He congratulated the athletes and coaches on their achievements and thanked them for representing Kosovo internationally.
