Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti met on Friday with Anton Hofreiter, Chair of the Committee on European Union Affairs of the German Bundestag, to discuss Kosovo’s European integration, security and regional cooperation.

Kurti thanked Hofreiter for his visit and expressed his readiness to further strengthen cooperation between the Kosovo government and the German parliament.

According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister, the two officials discussed current developments in Kosovo, European integration, security issues and regional cooperation.

Kurti also called for Germany’s support for what he described as Kosovo’s “merited” status as a candidate for European Union membership.

The prime minister said Kosovo had made “significant progress” in democracy, the rule of law, security and the economy.

The meeting comes as Kosovo continues to seek closer integration with the EU and greater support from member states for advancing its European perspective.
