Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti raised the issue of missing persons from the Kosovo war and the recent exhumation of 23 Albanian victims in Zubin Potok during the Berlin Process Summit in Montenegro, calling for renewed commitment to the pledges made at the 2018 London Summit.
Speaking to the media, Kurti emphasized the need for justice for wartime crimes and continued efforts to locate those who remain missing.
“At the same time, I hope we can revive the commitments made at the 2018 London Summit regarding justice for crimes committed during the war and finding missing persons. In my country, more than 1,500 people remain missing. Most recently, in the northern municipality of Zubin Potok, we exhumed the bodies of 23 Albanians who were killed by Serbian forces in April 1999,” Kurti said.
Kurti also expressed optimism about the future, highlighting regional cooperation and Kosovo’s commitment to European values.
“We are optimistic about the times ahead because we cooperate and remain engaged, guided by the values of the European Union, keeping the Kremlin at bay while focusing on youth, employment and the rule of law,” he stated.
His remarks brought renewed attention to the unresolved issue of missing persons from the Kosovo war and the need for accountability for wartime crimes.
