Kosovo’s acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, has called on Albanians in Presheva, Bujanoc and Medvegjë, as well as those living abroad, to vote for the Albanian Coalition, number 17, in Serbia’s parliamentary elections on October 25.

In a Facebook post, Gërvalla stressed the importance of Albanian representation in Serbia’s institutions, arguing that Albanians continue to face discrimination and violations of their rights.

She said Albanians in the Presheva Valley are an inseparable part of the Albanian nation and that their rights must not be overlooked by local or international institutions.

“Faced with systematic discrimination, the denial of rights and ongoing injustices by the Serbian state, stronger representation of Albanians in the Serbian Parliament is a necessity,” Gërvalla wrote.

According to her, the rights of Albanians in these three municipalities are not merely a local issue, but also a matter of responsibility to ensure that the injustices they face do not go unheard.

Gërvalla urged citizens to turn out in large numbers, stressing that high voter participation would strengthen the Albanian voice in Serbia’s Parliament.

“I therefore call on all of you to unite as never before, from the Presheva Valley to the diaspora, and exercise your right to vote on October 25,” she said.

Gërvalla concluded by reiterating her call to vote for the joint Albanian electoral list, the Albanian Coalition, number 17.
