Just two days before Serbia’s parliamentary elections, political leaders in the Presheva Valley, united behind a single electoral list, have called on citizens to turn out and vote.

“Our demands, which continue a long-standing struggle dating back to 2001, 2009, 2013 and 2022, will remain central in our engagement with the new government and the international community, particularly through lobbying for the rights of Albanians. These are the areas on which we will focus and organise our work as future members of parliament,” Shaip Kamberi, leader of the Party for Democratic Action, told RTK.

“This time, we have finally united after six years. I firmly believe and hope that we can once again secure three seats in the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia,” said Visar Mehmeti, leader of the Alternative for Change party.

“Albanians are demanding their rights in this part of the country. Our political goal is to work alongside Kosovo, Albania and the wider Albanian national factor to send a message to Albanians in the Presheva Valley: on December 25, they should turn out in large numbers and vote for the Albanian Coalition, number 17,” said Shqiprim Musliu, leader of the Movement for Democratic Progress.

Ardita Sinani, president of the Municipality of Presheva, also said that the unification of the political parties under a single electoral list is expected to increase the number of Albanian representatives in Serbia. She described this as an opportunity to raise greater awareness of the problems facing Albanians in the Presheva Valley, both inside Serbia’s parliament and beyond.

Meanwhile, the Albanian National Council has also called on citizens to turn out in large numbers for the elections.
