The Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Feridun Sinirlioğlu, has reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to security and stability in Southeast Europe following his participation in the Berlin Process Leaders’ Summit in Budva, Montenegro.

According to the OSCE, Sinirlioğlu joined leaders from across Europe, including Southeast Europe, for discussions on regional cooperation and shared challenges.

He said the region was at a critical crossroads, facing an important election season, persistent social tensions testing the resilience of institutions, and unresolved historical wounds that continue to affect societies.

“We are at a decisive moment for the entire region. The OSCE remains committed to security and stability in the region,” Sinirlioğlu said.

He added that the organization supports national authorities in their reform efforts, facilitates dialogue and reconciliation, promotes confidence-building measures and works to counter transnational threats, including organized crime and the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.

The OSCE Secretary General also stressed the importance of strong, resilient democratic institutions and public trust in building peaceful and stable societies.

Reflecting on the organization’s long-standing engagement in Southeast Europe, he emphasized the need to build on existing progress, strengthen regional cooperation and prevent new crises.

During his visit, Sinirlioğlu also met with leaders from across the region and reiterated the OSCE’s readiness to work with regional partners to strengthen resilience, deepen cooperation and support lasting peace and security.
