At the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) election headquarters, following Aleksandar Vučić’s electoral defeat, songs drew attention because of their content.
Among them was reportedly the song “General, General,” which has been used in recent weeks to glorify convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić.
According to foreign media reports cited by Telegrafi, footage from the party headquarters showed officials gathered together, singing, applauding and cheering alongside an accordion player.
Among those present was Ana Brnabić, wrapped in the Serbian flag, while SNS president and former prime minister Miloš Vučević stood nearby.
The atmosphere at the headquarters also featured a song performed by Baja Mali Knindža, an artist known for his nationalist songs.
The performance, accompanied by the song “General, General,” was also part of the musical repertoire heard during the gathering of party officials.
According to media reports, the song “General, General” is associated with the glorification of Ratko Mladić, the former commander of the Army of Republika Srpska, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals for the genocide in Srebrenica, crimes against humanity, and violations of the laws and customs of war.
