The European Commission has approved Chinese e-commerce platform Temu’s action plan to address alleged breaches of the Digital Services Act (DSA), particularly its legal obligations to assess risks associated with the sale of illegal products through its online marketplace.

Under the plan, Temu will have four months to implement the proposed measures. These include reviewing its content moderation systems, recommendation algorithms and practices that could manipulate how product listings are displayed.

The action plan will also undergo an independent external assessment to verify the implementation of the measures.

The European Commission will monitor Temu’s compliance as part of its efforts to strengthen enforcement of the Digital Services Act and prevent illegal products from reaching consumers through online platforms.

The approval follows a €200 million fine imposed on Temu in May 2026, according to the report.

The case highlights the European Union’s growing scrutiny of major online marketplaces and its efforts to ensure that digital platforms take greater responsibility for identifying and preventing the sale of illegal goods.
