Kosovo Assembly Speaker Albulena Haxhiu has announced that the next regular plenary session will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m., with the draft budget allocation law and legislation on the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets on the agenda.
Following Monday’s meeting of the Assembly Presidency, Haxhiu said that making the bureau operational was important for combating unexplained wealth and called on lawmakers to support the process.
“Public office must be neither a path to enrichment nor a shield for concealing unjustified wealth. Officials who cannot justify their assets through lawful income must be held accountable,” Haxhiu wrote in a Facebook post.
She said she expected MPs to support the completion of the process and ensure that the law was implemented in practice.
Haxhiu also announced that the Assembly Presidency had decided to launch a public competition for the design of the Assembly’s logo.
She said that, with the completion of the institutions, the Assembly had returned to its regular working schedule, with Presidency meetings held every Monday and plenary sessions every Thursday.
With around 200 draft laws on the government’s agenda, the aim is to review them without delays and with a sense of responsibility, she added.
During Monday’s meeting, a citizens’ initiative proposing amendments to the Criminal Code was also submitted. According to Haxhiu, the initiative will be considered in accordance with the established procedures.
