The Students’ List won Serbia’s early parliamentary elections, marking a major political setback for Aleksandar Vučić and his Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).

Regional voting results published by Serbia’s Electoral Commission show that the SNS lost in almost every part of the country, while the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), led by Ivica Dačić, crossed the three per cent electoral threshold in only a limited number of areas, including among Serbian voters in Kosovo.

According to figures cited by Serbian broadcaster N1, 71.63 per cent of voters in Kosovo supported the United Serbia list led by Vučić, giving it 24,344 votes.

The Students’ List received 7,167 votes from Kosovo Serbs, representing 21.09 per cent of the vote.

The SPS, which failed to cross the electoral threshold in most of Serbia, received 1,075 votes in Kosovo, or 3.16 per cent.

How North Mitrovica voted

In North Mitrovica, Vučić’s United Serbia list received 2,721 votes, accounting for 61.76 per cent of the vote.

The Students’ List secured 1,415 votes, or 32.12 per cent, while Dačić’s SPS received just 54 votes.

The results indicate that, although the Students’ List secured an overall victory in Serbia, Vučić’s political camp retained strong support among Serbian voters in Kosovo, including in North Mitrovica.
