A framed portrait of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was removed from the office of Kragujevac Mayor Nikola Dašić on Tuesday morning, after a man entered the mayor’s office and carried the picture out.

A video showing the incident was posted on the social media platform X and quickly spread online.

The incident occurred shortly after a large gathering in Kragujevac on Monday evening, organized by students participating in the ongoing university blockades under the slogan “Ajd odigramo kolo” (“Let’s Dance the Kolo”).

Đački Trg square and the surrounding streets were filled predominantly with young people who gathered to celebrate to music played by a DJ.

Participants carried Serbian flags and sang songs that have become symbols of the student protests.

The organizers emphasized the peaceful nature of the gathering in their invitation, declaring: “Tonight we celebrate victory. There is no place for clashes or violence.”

The removal of Vučić’s portrait from the mayor’s office followed the gathering, although the available report did not establish a direct connection between the two events.
