Kosovo’s Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate has shut down seven businesses in the country’s northern municipalities for failing to meet the minimum technical requirements for operating legally.

Five of the businesses were located in Mitrovica, while two were in the municipality of Zveçan.

The inspectorate said the closures followed a joint inspection operation conducted with the Kosovo Police the previous evening. The operation focused on verifying whether businesses were operating legally and complying with the requirements established under Kosovo’s legislation.

During the inspections, authorities also discovered that one of the businesses was operating illegally without being registered with the Kosovo Business Registration Agency (KBRA).

In addition to ordering the closures, inspectors issued seven fines to the economic operators for the violations identified.

The inspectorate said inspections would continue throughout Kosovo to ensure compliance with the law, promote the formalization of economic activity and protect consumers.

It also called on all businesses to meet the minimum technical requirements and conduct their activities in accordance with the legislation in force.
