Georgi Gotev, founder and editor-in-chief of EUalive, claims that Serbia’s ambassador to the EU, Danijel Apostolović, is portraying the Student List in Brussels as puppets of Vladimir Putin.

But this raises a much bigger question: is the Student List really breaking with the political mindset that has kept Serbia close to Moscow, or does it represent the same political spirit under a different name?

Aleksandar Vučić has spent years maintaining close political ties with Putin and Moscow, while Serbia has refused to align with EU sanctions against Russia. The question is whether the student movement offers a genuine departure from that approach or whether the faces are changing while the underlying political orientation remains the same.

The Student List’s leading candidate, Ilija Srdanović, has stated that Serbia will continue its European integration and that citizens should be informed about the benefits of EU membership. But statements about EU integration alone do not answer the question of where the movement stands on Russia, Putin and Serbia’s political alignment.

So, is this a real break with Vučić’s political legacy, or simply a new generation carrying forward the same political mindset? And if the Student List is genuinely different, where is the evidence?
