Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has warned that the Democratic Party’s victories in the U.S. midterm elections could further complicate the international situation, potentially prolong conflicts in the Middle East and drive up oil prices.

Vučić, who headed the electoral list “Aleksandar Vučić – United Serbia” in the October 25 parliamentary elections, said the incoming government in Belgrade should be formed as quickly as possible so it can address potential economic and geopolitical challenges.

Speaking live on TikTok, Vučić argued that Democratic gains in the United States would create additional complications for foreign policy and predicted that tensions in the Middle East would escalate.

“I expect Israel to work on expanding its zone of influence and security zone in both Syria and Lebanon. I also expect the United States, together with its ally, to launch more intense attacks against Iran,” Vučić said.

He added that such developments could lead to more casualties, serious political consequences and higher prices for oil and petroleum products.

“That is why it is important for the new government to be formed as soon as possible, so that it can start dealing with these problems,” he said.

Vučić added that he did not see similar concerns or particular interest in these issues among Serbia’s incoming political leadership. His electoral list lost the parliamentary elections held on October 25.

Vučić says Trump should not be underestimated

The former Serbian president also commented on the political consequences of the U.S. election results, expressing confidence that President Donald Trump would respond defiantly to the setback and continue his political fight.

Vučić predicted that the next two years could become the longest presidential campaign in U.S. history.

“I am certain that anyone who underestimates President Trump and thinks that he has been defeated or is finished will make a major mistake,” Vučić said.

His remarks come amid a changing political landscape in the United States following Democratic victories in the midterm elections, while Serbia faces the formation of a new government after the defeat of Vučić’s electoral list.
