The director of the so-called Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic, has warned the continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue at a technical level for the next week, saying that he does not expect anything from that meeting.
“As always, we go prepared with our experts, with all the topics on the table. We are ready to discuss everything openly. We especially insist on the formation of the Union of Serbian Municipalities. This is very important for the survival of the Serbs in Kosovo for the future and we will do everything to preserve peace and stability with such an approach and to preserve the Serbian people in Kosovo”, said Petkovic today for Radio Television of Serbia ( RTS).
July 2th as a possible date for a new meeting between Bislimi and Petkovic was also warned by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, two days ago.
“It will be tested at the beginning of July, most likely on July 2, between the two chief negotiators who will discuss the sequencing. But the implementation of the Agreement requires its respect”, Kurti said after the failure of the tripartite meeting within the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue yesterday in Brussels.
The failure came after Kurti set some conditions to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
According to the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, the failure to hold the tripartite meeting happened because, according to him, Kosovo was not ready for such a meeting. He said that during the bilateral meetings, Kurti presented three conditions for further engagement in the process of normalizing relations with Serbia.
“First, the formalization of the Basic Agreement through signature by the respective heads of state. The second, the withdrawal of the official letter submitted to the EU by the former Serbian prime minister, Ana Bërnabiq, on December 13, 2023. And the third, the handover of Millan Radoicic and his paramilitary terrorist group to the Kosovo judicial authorities,” said Borrell during a press conference.
