The Netherlands and Denmark are set to deliver 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, the Dutch Ministry of Defense has announced.
It is noted that both countries declared in April last year that they would purchase the tanks from a third party and prepare them for battle in Ukraine.
The tanks have been fully refurbished by the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall and are ready for delivery after months of testing, Reuters reports.
However, the Ministry of Defense did not provide a delivery date.
“Leopard tanks can help Ukraine win on the battlefield,” the ministry said in a statement.
“They have great firepower, offer good protection for the crew, and are fast.”
Additionally, Denmark and the Netherlands have recently donated F-16 aircraft to the Ukrainian military.
These aircraft are expected to fly in Ukrainian skies this summer to ensure that Ukrainians can continue to defend themselves effectively against Russian aggression.
