Today in Berlin, Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Accompanied by Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports Hajrulla Çeku, Kurti was warmly received for a bilateral meeting at the Federal Chancellor’s office.

During the meeting, Kurti thanked Chancellor Scholz for his hospitality and congratulated him on the successful Berlin Process Summit, which marked its 10th anniversary in Germany’s capital. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and areas where Germany could support Kosovo.

Kurti emphasized the need for the European Union to lift measures against Kosovo, a request also made by EU High Representative Josep Borrell. He further requested support in addressing the issue of Serbia’s closed airspace for commercial flights to and from Kosovo, which has been blocked for 25 years, causing financial losses for airlines and environmental damage due to longer flight routes.

On regional cooperation, Kurti expressed Kosovo’s commitment to the Berlin Process and the implementation of agreements reached within its framework, including the Agreement on Access to Higher Education and the 2025-2028 Regional Common Market Action Plan.

Regarding relations with Serbia, Kurti highlighted that Serbia’s signing of the Basic Agreement, the surrender of top terrorist Milan Radoičić and his group, and Serbia’s withdrawal of its reservations regarding the Basic Agreement would be essential for demonstrating goodwill and building trust to fully implement the agreement and its annex.

Kurti thanked Chancellor Scholz for Germany’s continued support for Kosovo and its people.
