President Vjosa Osmani has awarded the Order of Freedom and the Order of Independence to Ambassador William Walker, the late Congressman Tom Lantos, Ambassador Daniel Fried, Josh Black, and Mira Ricardel, expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Kosovo.

Osmani stated that through their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to peace, freedom, and the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, they are among the American allies who have left a legacy that will always be remembered with pride by the people of Kosovo.

“Their support has shaped our past, strengthens our present, and inspires our future! For this contribution, today, in Washington D.C., I had the honor, on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo, to decorate them with the Order of Freedom and the Order of Independence,” Osmani wrote. Former American ambassador William Walker served as the head of the Verification Mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in 1999 and documented the crimes committed during the Račak Massacre.
