Serbia’s Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) has arrested two people in an operation carried out in Vranje and Jagodina, accusing them of the criminal offense of espionage.
According to Serbian media reports, D.C., 46, from Shillova in the municipality of Gjilan, Kosovo, was arrested in Vranje, while N.P., 50, was arrested in Jagodina.
The operation was carried out jointly by BIA, the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Jagodina, and police directorates in Vranje and Jagodina.
According to claims by Serbian authorities, the two women allegedly passed information to Albania’s State Intelligence Service (SHISH), its Kosovo branch, Kosovo’s Intelligence Agency (KIA), and the Intelligence Unit of the Kosovo Police.
The information allegedly concerned active BIA personnel and their activities.
In the case of N.P., who has a registered residence in Jagodina, authorities also searched her home under a court order. Serbian media reported that several items and electronic devices were seized during the search, which authorities suspect could be connected to the alleged criminal offense.
The espionage allegations have been made by Serbian authorities and media. They remain allegations and have not been established by a court.
