Lulzim Basha, leader of the Democratic Party of Albania (PD) and Euro-Atlantic Democrats, strongly condemned the recent explosion in Zubin Potok, which targeted the Ibër-Lepenci water supply network in the village of Varagë.
Basha emphasized that this attack, along with the grenade assault in Zveçan, is part of a destabilizing scenario aimed at creating tensions and insecurity in the region.
“I strongly condemn the terrorist act in Zubin Potok and support and encourage the institutions of Kosovo to investigate and clarify this serious criminal event as soon as possible. Attacks on critical infrastructure, which disrupt citizens’ access to water and energy, are terrorist acts inspired by those who seek to create tension and destabilization in the region. This attack, following two others in the Zveçan police station and the Zveçan municipal building, shows that there is a prepared scenario for destabilization behind these actions,” Basha wrote.
He also criticized the lack of accountability for those responsible for previous armed terrorist attacks, such as the one in Banjskë. “The failure to hold the perpetrators accountable for the attack in Banjskë is a failure whose consequences are felt not only by Kosovo but also by the entire Euro-Atlantic security architecture. Therefore, there is a need for heightened attention from NATO’s mission in Kosovo to prevent any further attempts for attacks that could have severe consequences for peace and security in the region and beyond,” Basha added.
