Several suspects were arrested in the villages of Zubin Potok on Saturday following raids conducted by the Kosovo Police. It is still unclear whether the suspects are connected to the explosion at the Ibër-Lepenc water canal.
In addition to the arrests, the police also confiscated various materials.
During a visit to Varagë earlier today, Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated that those responsible for the explosion were not just one or two individuals, “but an organized group directed by Serbia.”
“Thanks to the selfless work of these police officers, engineers, experts, and workers, we have managed to repair some of the damage, although we are still at only about a quarter of the normal water flow through the canal, which also cools the power plants and provides water to many municipalities. The police are conducting investigations, raids, and arrests, collecting evidence and material proof. All these criminals and terrorists will face justice and the law of the Democratic Republic of Kosovo,” said Kurti from the scene.
Raids in the North
(09:02) – A police operation is underway in the northern part of the country on Saturday.
Kosovo Police have confirmed that a raid is taking place, but have not shared additional details at this time.
In the past three days, three attacks have occurred in northern Kosovo. Less than 24 hours after a grenade attack on the Municipality building in Zveçan, an explosion occurred in the Ibër-Lepenc water supply network in the village of Varagë, Zubin Potok, on Friday.
Kosovo’s central authorities have blamed Serbia for the attack, which they have classified as a terrorist act. The attacks have also been condemned by the United States and the European Union.
