Riho Terras, the newly appointed European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo, has remained cautious about discussing his stance on the ongoing Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and other political issues during his first visit to the country. In a media conference, Terras emphasized the need for time to understand the situation in Kosovo, explaining that his current visit, a three-day mission focused on gathering information, is aimed at engaging with all stakeholders.
“I have met with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Vjosa Osmani, and I will also meet with opposition leaders and representatives from civil society,” said Terras. When asked about his position on the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, he stressed the importance of hearing from all sides before making any conclusions. “Please give me the opportunity to meet with all parties and people to gather their viewpoints,” he added.
Terras revealed that he had already spoken to several individuals in Kosovo before arriving in the country and expressed satisfaction in now receiving firsthand information. “We are here to help Kosovo on its path toward EU integration,” he stated.
During his visit, Terras will also travel to the northern part of Kosovo, where he plans to hold further meetings. He will visit the Ibar-Lepenc Canal, the site of a terrorist attack in late November. Terras expressed confidence that Kosovo’s authorities would uncover those responsible for the attack.
Regarding the September 24, 2023 attack in Banjskë, Zvečan, Terras emphasized the need for justice: “All criminals must be brought to justice.”
