Simić Seeks Votes from Serbs in Kosovo by Spreading Fear of Kosovo Institutions

In a series of pre-election statements, Igor Simić, deputy leader of the Serbian List, has called on Serbs in Kosovo to vote for his party by spreading fear about Kosovo’s institutions. He claimed that Prime Minister Albin Kurti would use all available mechanisms, both institutional and non-institutional, to hinder the operations of the Serbian List. Therefore, he urged Kosovo’s Serbs to unite and demonstrate solidarity by voting for the Serbian List in the upcoming elections on February 9.

Simić, in an interview with TV Pink, a media outlet that serves the regime of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, stated that “Kurti exploits every opportunity to score political points” by allegedly “harassing Serbs” in Kosovo. He further asserted that this approach is well received among the Albanian voters, which he believes forms the basis of Kurti’s policies.

“The international representatives are now accustomed to this behavior, and from time to time, they issue weak statements that even they don’t believe, let alone the Serbs of Kosovo. Despite having a mandate to protect peace and Kosovo’s multi-ethnic character, they have failed in their mission,” Simić concluded, continuing his narrative of fear and division.
